Woman's Journal and Suffrage News, 4 issues.
Blackwell, Alice Stone (ed). Woman's Journal And Suffrage News. Boston: Woman's Journal, 1915-1916. (1) Vol. 46, No. 36 (September 4, 1915); Vol. 46, No. 48 (November 27, 1915); Volume 47, No. 1 (January 1, 1916); Volume 47, No. 4 (January 22, 1916).
Each paper folded into quarters; paper brittle and toned; good.
Although why Mrs. Leber retained these four issues only is not immediately apparent, they do give a good representation of this enduring suffrage publication. The National Woman Suffrage Association, under Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and the American Woman Suffrage Association, under Lucy Stone and Julia Ward Howe, reunited in 1890. The Woman’s Journal, however, remained independent; only in the final years of the woman suffrage campaign did NAWSA formally takeover publication of the paper. The newspapers, of course, record numerous activities and details lost in larger accounts of the movement such as "Yellow Rallies", a series of night parades in support of the 1915 New York referendum; actress Lillian Russell taking charge of ticket sales for "Suffrage Day" at Forbes Field in Pittsburgh; names of those who have sent in five or more subscriptions for The Woman’s Journal, and a threatened "Stay at Home" woman suffrage strike.
