Militant Methods.

Blackwell, Alice Stone. Pamphlet: "Militant Methods.” New York: National American Woman Suffrage Association, [c. 1912].

5-1/2 X 7"; 14 pp.; printed self-wrappers (stapled); some dustiness; very good.

First printing thus (reprinted from The Woman’s Journal). Blackwell points out that militancy among woman suffrage supporters in England arose because for over 40 years political maneuvering had prevented a suffrage bill from coming to vote in Parliament. While the press has reported, with glee, suffragettes smashing windows, etc., it has not recorded the spring of such demonstrations. "If the press dispatches had told the truth, the sympathy of the American public, irrespective of their views on suffrage, would be strongly with the women.” OCLC records just six holdings.
