Gilman / 380 Washington St / Norwich Town, Conn / [thin line across leaf] / (Nov. 21st 1931) / Please return [underscored]. The author expected Human Work to be her most important book. While she extended some of the propositions originally offered in Women and Economics, she made the central argument of Human Work her thesis that work was necessary to all humans to fulfill their potential and that work, in and of itself, is a worthwhile end, not just a means.
