First edition of this novel. From the Jews Hospital and Orphan Asylum Behrend Memorial Library so stamped on both endpapers and title page. In 1928, the Jews Hospital and Orphan Asylum, located in south London, changed its name to The Jewish Orphanage School following an expansion, and has to this day become a leading Jewish Charity. The stamp indicates that the book was received and used very close to the date of publication in 1899.
