Word to the Wise, A.
Taylor, Edward T[homas]. Small Broadside: "A Word to the Wise. Excerpts from a speech of Congressman Edward T. Taylor in the House of Representatives, April 24, 1912.” New York: Empire State Campaign Committee, [c. 1915].
Broadside: 7 x 10"; printed on light brown stock (one side); heavy chipping to margins, but text unaffected; good.
Salient points from Taylor’s address to the House in which, based on Colorado and its experience of woman suffrage, he refutes key anti-suffrage arguments, i.e., that suffrage encourages ‘bad women’ to vote, doubles the criminal vote, and increases the divorce rate. In short, "I do not know of any bad effects whatever that woman suffrage had had in the State of Colorado, and I do know of enough good that they have accomplished to fill volumes.”
