The July issue has contributions by Germaine Greer, Erica Jong, Gloria Steinem—on how women vote—and others. With covers depicting in vibrant colors a giant Wonder Woman, wearing a somewhat strained expression as she strives to rescue a placid city from war. A billboard in the picture reads, “Peace and Justice in ’72.” Articles advertised on the cover included Steinem’s piece, along with “Money for Housework,” “New Feminist: Simone de Beauvoir,” and “Body Hair: The Last Frontier.”
The August issue has contributions by Florence Adams, Gloria Steinem, Angela Davis, Kate Millett—on Davis’s trial—Jean Strouse, Alice Walker, Doris Lessing, and others. The cover story is on Marilyn: “Ten Years Later: The Real Marilyn Monroe,” “The woman who died too soon”; over articles advertised on the cover are “What if Pat Nixon Were a Feminist?” and “The Liberated Orgasm.”
