To the 8,000,000 Working Women in the United States.
[Suffrage]. National American Woman Suffrage Association. Handbill — “To the 8,000,000 Working Women in the United States.” New York: National American Woman Suffrage Association, [ND, but c. 1910].
Handbill - 8-5/16” x 10-12”, printed black on green stock which has faded to tan; some minor edge wear with the lower corners a little nipped; very good.
Here the NAWSA addresses itself to working women, a segment many felt within and without the organization that it usually tended to overlook. The Association asks, “Are you satisfied with your working conditions? Are you satisfied with your living conditions?” and tells the reader that women need to unite “to secure laws that will protect you”—but until they have the vote and the power it conveys they will never achieve what the working woman wants: “shorter hours, bigger pay, safe and sanitary workshops.” An effective and uncommon NAWSA handbill.
