First edition; printed on July 17, 1916, by Alphonse Lemerre; signed by Viven, in pencil, at the top of the title page; and featuring decorative motifs throughout the text. In six chapters, titled, “Odes et Fragments,” “Épithalames,” “Huit Poétesses grecques,” “Nossis,” “Anyté de Tégée ou Anyta de Mytilène” and “Kléobulina.”

The book is arranged so the original Greek text alternates with the French translation; in some instances it is possible to compare them side-by-side.

This was the last of Vivien’s books that she saw to publication in her lifetime; she committed suicide four months after it was published.
