Seven portrait photos.

VINTAGE PHOTOGRAPHS

Barney, Natalie Clifford. Seven photographs. Ca. 1940s-60s.
Seven photographs, various sizes and conditions; some mounted; some matted.

A collection of eight original vintage portraits of Natalie Barney spanning her career, and
including one with her longtime lover Romaine Brooks. Openly lesbian from a relatively young
age, Barney moved to Paris and spent most of her adult life there, at the center of the literary
expatriate world. The earliest photo present was taken on one of her early visits to Paris (a cabinet
card taken at “Otto” on the Place de la Madeleine).
An uncommon assemblage of images of one of the iconic expatriate Americans of the last
century.
