Answer of the Lord to the Hebrews, The.
Seven Southcott Titles
Bound Together
Southcott, Joanna. An Answer of the Lord to the Hebrews, and six earlier titles. London: Marchant and Galabin, 1814.
8vo.; pencil and ink marginal notes and underlining throughout, manuscript index at front; leaf of manuscript notes bound in between pages 6 and 7 of the fifth text; ownership signature on first pastedown; marbled boards, leather spine; amateur tape repair; upper panel detached; covers heavily worn. In a specially made quarter-morocco slipcase.
First editions of these seven pamphlets, bound together and heavily used, inside and out: the contemporary owner of the volume, who has signed the front pastedown, has littered the margins with tidy commentary, and underlined passages of interest and importance throughout. A second hand has reviewed the text in pencil, placing occasional x’s in the margins, several lines of pencil notes on the binder’s final blank, and a single x by each title as it appears in the manuscript “index” which appears on the binder’s first blank. The correct titles included are as follows:
