Diary of Anne Frank.

First Hebrew Edition

Frank, Anne. Diary of Anne Frank. Tel Aviv: Duir, 1953.

8vo.; black and green wrappers; spine chipped; dampstaining to lower panel, interior of upper panel, and upper right quadrant of preliminaries; wrappers partially detached. In a specially made cloth slipcase.

First Hebrew edition. A scarce item: unheard of in trade, it’s the first copy we or our colleagues who deal exclusively in Judaica have seen. Published here in the language and locale in which it would have the most poignant resonance, it came out five years after the first edition was printed in Dutch, but followed hard on the heels of the first edition in English, published in the States in 1952.
