Measuring Up Equal Suffrage.

Creel, George and Judge Ben B. Lindsey. Small Pamphlet: "Measuring Up Equal Suffrage.” New York: National American Woman Suffrage Association, [c. 1910-1915].

Small pamphlet: 3-1/2 x 6"; 32 pp.; printed light blue wrappers (stapled); with the stamp of the Women's Political Union at the front cover; darkening along top edge and at left; very good.

Reprinted from The Delineator. George Creel (1876-1953) and Judge Ben Lindsey (1869-1943) published their "Authoritative Estimate of Results in Colorado" in the popular magazine The Delineator. The NAWSA reprinted the article in booklet or pamphlet form almost immediately and continued to reissue it through the decade. Colorado, the first state to give its women the vote through referendum (1893), came to be viewed as a good example of the effect women could have on the political system. Both Creel and Lindsey, both Colorado politicians, actively supported widening the franchise, speaking and writing in support of the cause. Krichmar 1560.
