Image size: 3-7/16 x 2-5/16,” mounted on photographer’s mat, 4-3/16 x 2-7/16”; on back is the stamp of Sarony & Co., Photographers, 680 Broadway, N.Y. Fine; Mrs. Stanton’s image is in an oval, bust portrait, with black lace shawl and cap.
From 1869-1881 she lectured on the Lyceum circuit with great success. In talks entitled “Our Girls” and “Our Boys,” she used her winning personality and easy humor to deliver her radical ideas with subtlety. This images dates from around that time and was probably part of the publicity needed for such speaking tours.
