Justice to woman is the first step toward justice to man. So long as man ignores the claims of woman to possess herself, her children, her [] her property-in fine to retain her individual sovereignty in marriage-he cannot be expected to regard others rights. He must be taught to respect the sacredness of the persons of his own household before he can realize it in outsiders. How can he feel (Aguinaldo's?) right to govern himself sacred, while he denies it to the wife by his side. "First pure then peaceable" with the law of the twentieth century."
