Rzecz o Konstytuancie I Rzadzie Tymaczasowym.
[Luxemburg, Rosa]. Rzecz o Konstytuancie i Rządzie Tymaczasowym. Warsaw, “Czerwony Sztandar”, 1906.
Small 8vo; evenly lightly browned; otherwise a fine copy in the original printed wrappers.
Scarce first edition of Rosa Luxemburg’s work on a future constitutional assembly and the provisional revolutionary government, written when she was in Poland and the overthrow of the Tsarist regime still seemed an immediate possibility. The tenor of this programmatic text is clearly anti-bourgeois, and against the emerging revisionist tendencies, and Marxist centralism championed by Lenin.
Not many copies of the large print-run of 23,000, which Kormanowa states, can have survived. Żanna Kormanowa, Materiały do bibliografii druków socjalistycznych, p. 191; OCLC locates copies at the International Institute of Social History, Columbia University and in the Polish National Library.
With advertisements on the rear cover for other brochures published by the S.D.K.P.i.L., two under Rosa Luxemburg’s name, others under her pseudonyms R. Kruszyńska, Maciej Rózga, Józef Chmura, and J. Karski, and a few anonymously.
