Woman's Suffrage (AMS), 12 pages.: THOMPSON, Mrs. F. E. WOMAN'S SUFFRAGE (AMS), 12 pages. "Pomona Grange to have this article printed in the "Standard" [ca 1912]. written in pencil on lined writing paper.

8-1/2 x 11 inch sheets. The last sheet is missing a small blank piece. The Pomona Grange may refer to the Fairfield County (VA) Pomona Grange.

Mrs. Thompson first offers the examples of numerous women holding positions and jobs of distiction as examples of the abilities of women. She mentions high profile women such as Jane Addams, Isa Tarbell, Mabel Boardman,Julia Lathrop and others. She states, "The fact that women have ability ought not to be questioned." She then address issues of taxation, property laws, unequal pay, guardianship of children teacher salaries, etc. "The ballot is the effect of woman's evolution not the cause." Mrs. Thompson makes the pro-suffrage arguments and proves the effectiveness of the information offensive of the suffrage movement. The period of 1910 - 1920 produced a change in the minds of majority voters throughout the country. Here, a grass roots actvist in (probably) Virginia is able to write a coherent statement in support of the the extension of suffrage to women.
