ALS, "J.C. Croly," to "Dearest Mrs. Kendall," August 21, 1893, 325 West 57th St., New York.

8vo.; one leaf of The New Cycle Editorial Department, Mrs. Croly, Editor, letterhead, two pages.

Croly writes, on letterhead from the editorial department of The New Cycle, that she is in desperate need for financial and moral support for the magazine; "to suspend would be death...so I have decided to take the risk myself, and continue the Cycle this year, beginning with September, and rending with June; but covering Biennial. I cannot make a large magazine; but I shall try to make it interesting, suggestive, and useful.

“As Fed. Sec. I shall be deeply grateful for your influence and aid in securing me club news, outline of work & anticipated events, and subscriptions; as these are what will save personal loss.

“I want however that this year should be also one of restitution; and if any one feels that they have not received the value of their dollar last year, they shall have this year free.”
