ARCHIVE: Correspondence, manuscripts, and documents.

An archive of about 200 personal letters from a woman working on the Manhattan Project, all of them - both autograph and typed - composed on WWII military stationery.

These letters have the immediacy of a first-person diary account, and the emotional intimacy with her special female friend.

“Example of exceptional achievement by a woman in science during that era: there is some feminist interest in rehabilitating women who ought to have been more heralded in their time than they were. The matter of her sexuality is intriguing but cannot be proven.”
