[Education] Crandall, Prudence. Autograph letter of recommendation, signed, for Student Mary L. Morgan, March 28, 1832.

Written by Crandall, the pioneer educator of African-American girls, this letter of recommendation (evidently for a white girl) reads in part:

This may certify that Mary L. Morgan has atten[d]ed my school the term of nearly nine months and has conducted herself with the greatest propriety and mad[e] good advancement in literature...I think her capable to teach a good English school...
