Prospectus: The Call Ltd. A Daily Paper to be Owned by Women.

Three pages, 4to, bifolium (last page blank), fold mark, good condition.

The newspaper was at "flotation stage and is managed by the Founder, an experienced journalist, who is assisted by a Committee of capable Women, and all give their services gratis." Object "to publish a non-Party, clean up-to-date, Daily Newspaper entitled "The Call" and to carry on a printing and publishing business. " It will not [bold] be a 'woman's paper' but an ordinary newspaper for the edification of men, women, and children, owned democratically and solely by women, produced by men and women working together on equal terms, and will stand for ideal co-operation between them". Its objectives are outlined (right against might, international co-operation; stop the war, women's and men's points of view, candidature of women for Parliament, etc etc.). The uniqueness of the paper is then illustrated (circulation of i million to be guaranteed before publication; involvement of women will attract advertisement. They characterise the women who have already subscribed. Page 3 is a Form of Application for Shares. Note: the project was reviewed in the "Newspaper World and Advertising Review" but there is no evidence that it was ever published. The only names on the prospectus are the solicitor (Miss Morrison) and the auditor (Miss M.M. Homersham).
