Swieto l-go Maja.

ONLY TRACEABLE COPY

[Luxemburg, Rosa]. [cover-title:] Święto 1-go Maja. Warsaw: for the Czernowy Sztandar, 1906.

Small 8vo, pp, 27, [5, blank]; printed self-wrappers and wire-stitched as issued; front wrapper with short tear to lower margin.

This is the very rare illegally printed pamphlet for the celebrations and demonstrations of the 1st of May 1906, when Poland was still in revolutionary mood and the reaction had not gained total control yet.

Rosa Luxemburg gives a short history of the Mayday appeals worldwide and in Poland and lines out the strategies against Tsarism and the demands of the Polish working class and her party. This pamphlet contains an additional slogan, not found in previous issues: The demand for a People’s Republic.
