Constitution and By-Laws, and related material.
[Suffrage] Political Equality Club of Buffalo. Constitution and By-laws, and related material.
Buffalo: White-Evans-Penfold Co., [1912-13?].
16mo.; seven pages; printed card wrappers, stapled.
Together with:
Five pieces of related material, as follows:
Hirshfield, Elizabeth, “Concerning Woman Suffrage,” Published by the Buffalo Political
Equality Club (nd; ca 1900-1910); single issue of the Buffalo Political Equality Club
Bulletin (January, 1909; entire issue devoted to an article by Mary R. Craigie, “The
Relation of the Women School Teachers to Woman Suffrage”); postal card announcing
“the first Women’s Political Convention ever held in Buffalo” (1910); membership
application for the Buffalo Political Equality Club (unused, ca 1910); bulletin, signed in
print by Chairwoman Mrs. Walter C. Nichols, announcing the imminent construction of a
city Woman Suffrage Headquarters and proposing a constitutional convention (dated
1912).
The Constitution, undated, was likely a product of the above-mentioned 1912 constitutional
convention, and not original to the formation of the Club in 1900 (though this is obviously no
better than conjecture on our part). With the exception of one item, none of the pieces is
separately listed in OCLC; the Elizabeth Hirshfield pamphlet is noted in a single institution only
(Jewish Theological Seminary).
