LETTER: Typed letter signed, to Miss Gladys Pankhurst, with related material including armbands and a duty roster.
Typed Note Signed "[L...?] Lycett", to Miss Gladys Pankhurst (no relation to Emmeline's branch). With related items (armbands and a duty roster).
21 Steele's Road, Hampstead, [London], NW3, 9 April 1943. One page, fold marks, good condition. "Although I have not been to the last two meetings in conjunction with the G.T.C., I rather gather that the arrangements are not altogether satisfactory as there are no opportunities to use the buzzer, and it seems that we have been expected to put in practice on our own, which as we know is impossible in most cases. | As there is a meeting at Victory House on the 17th April which I have been asked to attend, I feel it would be wiser to postpone any further meetings until after that date. If, as is hoped, the Government's decision is announced on that day, or is likely to be announced within a few weeks, perhaps we could carry on as we are now. Otherwise it seems that it would be better to close down completely. | If you have any ideas on the subject do let me know, as it seems a pity that we should have to disperse, but we seem to have been dogged by all the bad luck in the world. | Could you possibly let Nan have the gist of this letter and apologise for my not having written to her, only I am terribly busy, as you will see by the mistakes in this letter, and there are several more people to write to yet?" WITH: two armbands, very good condition, one with words "FIRE GUARD", the other with initials "WHD" [Women's Home Defence]. AND: carbon copy, one page, 4to, "Rosta for Orderly Room Duties" for "15 Coy. 20 Mx.H.G. | Women Section", June to August [1943?], including Gladys Pankhurst several times.
