12mo, 298 pp.; touch of foxing at fore-edge, latter pages only; a thin dampstain across fore-edge with some mild seepage to upper margins of last pages of text; dark green wove cloth; decorative edge rules, ornamental devices at the corners, front panel with title and author, all stamped in white; at spine, thin rule at head and foot of spine, title, author’s last name and publisher, stamped in white; very good, bright, and attractive.

Second edition. (1/2,000 copies). Gilman dedicated the book to her daughter, “To my daughter, Katharine who has taught me much of what is written here.” This edition appeared just a year after the original publication but the binding differs completely from its predecessor. Scharnhorst 1088.
