LETTERS: Correspondence to Mr. Mills.

BRITTAIN, VERA. 14 letters and cards signed; 4-page autograph memorandum signed; 1-page typescript signed; relating to the Anglican Pacifist Fellowship, 1956-7. Five typed letters signed (8pp.); two autograph letters signed (4pp.) and a four-page autograph memorandum signed headed "On talk with Dean of Bangor", approximately 1000 words (9 September 1956 - 17 November 1957). The letters are addressed to a Mr. Mills and discuss A.P.F. matters, VB's arrangements to give a talk for the organisation and the forthcoming publication of "Testament of Experience". The memorandum covers the (failed) attempt to recruit the Dean of Bangor to the organisation, a campaign for a national day of prayer, religion, South Africa, an A.P.F. conference, and a deputation ('approach') to the Archbishop of Canterbury on pacifist matters by various sympathetic bishops, canons etc. One typed letter signed to the editor of The Anglican Pacifist together with a one-page typescript signed entitled "Message from Vera Brittain" recommending the publication and noting her forthcoming work on the 50th anniversary of the International Fellowship of Reconciliation. Three typed letters signed (3pp.); one autograph letter signed (1p.) and two autograph postcards signed (10 February 1961 - 9 July 1962) to the poet, literary critic and director-general of the Anglican Pacifist Fellowship ,D[erek].S. Savage, concerning a proposed anthology of verse from Peace News, the bombing of Germany and A.P.F. matters. In excellent condition.
