The Right to Vote Who gave MEN their right to Vote and When?…

42. Small Broadside: "The Right to Vote Who gave MEN their right to Vote and When?…" Harrisburg, Penna., Pennsylvania Woman Suffrage Association, [1915].

Small broadside: 6-1/4" x 9-5/8"; printed one side on pink stock. Diagonal crease at lower left corner and across middle; edgewear and some rumpling; some offsetting to pink paper; 2" closed tear at upper margin; good.

A variation of the NAWSA broadside from the 'Rainbow Series,' "About Voting: Who Gave Men Their Right to Vote and When?…" The leaflet points out that though all men over 21 who are citizens can vote, though none of them "asked" to vote: "The right is given to them by the law of the land." So, why must women ask for the same right? The country needs for all its citizens to have the franchise. "The UNITED STATES can do it by a National Constitutional Amendment. STATES CAN DO IT BY A STATE CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT." The broadside then concludes: "Let Pennsylvania Women Vote / Vote for the Woman Suffrage Amendment in November, 1915." (See Franklin, p. 177)
