Appeal to the Women of the North-West.

Chicago Sanitary Commission: FOR THE IMMEDIATE RELIEF OF OUR SICK AND WOUNDED SOLDIERS. APPEAL TO THE WOMEN OF THE NORTH-WEST, BY THE CHICAGO SANITARY COMMISSION. BRANCH OF THE U.S. SANITARY COMMISSION, OFFICE AND DEPOT, NO. 41 WABASH AVENUE, CHICAGO, NOVEMBER 1, 1861. COUNTRYWOMEN:... [Chicago: 1861]. Caption title [as issued]. 7, [1 blank] pp. Stitched. Old horizontal folds, else Fine.

This pamphlet is evidently unrecorded. "There is a service you owe your country, which she now calls upon you to perform. It is to make full provision for the relief and comfort of our sick and wounded soldiers." The pamphlet lists "supplies wanted for the hospitals," including bedding, clothing, surgeons' supplies, edibles; and includes "directions for packing, marking and forwarding." Especially noted is the "Pressing Want" for flannel shirts, flannel drawers, and blankets and quilts. The last two pages are "Directions for forming 'Soldiers Relief Circles.'"
