Proceedings of the World Population Conference.

Sanger, Mrs. Margaret, ed. Proceedings of the World Population Conference. Held at the Salle Central, Geneva, August 29th to September 3rd, 1927.

Large 8vo.; frontispiece with tissue guard; blue cloth, spine stamped in gilt.

First edition of these Proceedings, edited by Sanger and including full text of Principal Papers that were shortened at the Conference due to time constraints; English translations of French and German papers; discussion excerpted from the verbatim report; supplementary remarks and papers; and a list of Conference participants and members of the Advisory and General Councils. The number of women among these hundred-plus names can be counted on the fingers of a single hand.

A frontispiece photograph depicts “A Group of Members attending the Conference,” not a woman among the fifteen men.

The Conference was divided into six sessions, with several papers per session on the following topics: biology; food and population; fertility and the birth rate; fertility, sterility, and “anthropogenetic selection”; migration, immigration, and emigration; heredity, disease, poverty, and race. Country-specific papers were presented throughout the Conference.
