I. Correspondence

Anaïs to Hugo:

5 typed letter carbons, three with autograph notes; one signed, two unsigned; September – October 1973.

Discussing plans for her lecturing tour, upcoming publications, apartment issues and apologies for her inability to understand Hugo’s views on money and lifestyle.


Joaquin Nin to Bair:

12 letters, answering Bair’s questions, 36 pp.

Direct commentary on the biography, 19 pp.

Details on family photos, ca. 10 pp.

Keynote speech at a Nin conference.

Photocopied letters from Joaquin to Anaïs, 3 letters, and 1 from Anaïs to Joaquin.

Notes and transcripts from 6 interviews, phone and in person.

One postcard authorizing Bair to use photos, written materials, and conversations with him.

Lila Rosenblum: About seven typed letters signed, 1990 – 1991, confirming Rosenblum’s acquaintance with Nin and discussing some contacts and details of Nin’s persona.

Gayle Nin Rosencrantz: A file containing transcripts of telephone conversations, facsimile correspondence, and one photocopied essay.

Gunther Stuhlmann: One file containing typed letters from and notes on telephone
conversations.

Gore Vidal: One folder containing two handwritten letters from Vidal to Bair and notes on one interview, 1992, discussing information on Nin, her work and personal character.

Various: A file with correspondence from various people regarding details on Nin.

Various: A file of correspondence containing initial or vague leads to information about Nin.


II. Interviews

III. Images

One photo image (reproduction?) of Nin in Paris, c. 1927, used by Penguin in book on Nin.

One box, containing approximately 100 images, mostly black and white, taken of Nin both young and old, posing alone and/or with various people like husbands, lovers, friends and students.

One package containing approximately 150 images of Nin, (originals or reproductions?), mostly black and white, 2x2 inches to 8x10 inches, mostly larger formats, spanning the whole of Nin’s lifetime.
