LETTER: Autograph letter signed, “M. Louise Thomas,” to “Ben. M. Austin, Dear Sir,” August 7, 1890, 680 Lexington Avenue, New York.

ALS, “M. Louise Thomas,” to “Ben. M. Austin, Dear Sir,” August 7, 1890, 680 Lexington Avenue, New York.

8vo.; one leaf, two pages.

Thomas, who was involved with the National Council of Women, herein writes of the autograph collections of her husband and brother, and of her own, which itself numbers “about 2500 different names divided into” various “classes.”

“Of course I have many duplicates,” she writes, “and will be pleased to exchange with you at any time.”

She offers to send a catalogue she had printed “over 10 years ago when my collection was much smaller than now,” adding, “I shall soon have another printed.” She concludes, “Mr. Edward Bok, editor of the Ladies Home Journal, has a collection of over 32,000, but he counts every letter, thus: He has about 300 from Henry Ward Beecher, and wife, and he counts all, while I do not count duplicates.”
