Objections Answered.

Blackwell, Alice Stone. Small Pamphlet: "Objections Answered.” New York: National American Woman Suffrage Publishing Co., May, 1916.

Small pamphlet: 3-1/2 x 6"; 50 pp.; printed brown wrappers (stapled); darkened at upper left corner; very good.

Revised edition. Blackwell addresses arguments against the enfranchisement of women, from "Women are already represented by their husbands, fathers and brothers" to "If women vote, they ought to fight and do police duty.” Blackwell, during her long tenure on The Woman’s Journal, wielded an articulate and persuasive pen on behalf of woman suffrage. She wrote "Objections Answered" around 1900; the piece continued to be reworked and reissued for the next two decades. OCLC shows only a microform holding of the 1916 edition. Krichmar 1469.
