Handbill: A Humble Petition to His Majesty the King..
[Handbill] A Humble Petition toi His Majesty the KIng from his loyal and devoted subjects who Honour Him as their Only Leader.
Published by The Saturday Review, printed by St. Clements Press, [1936]. Four pages, 4to, some creasing and marking, mainly good. She wants the King to be a "Man of Destiny" like Mussolini and Hitler. "Wise men do not despise the counsel of a woman". She obviously has no faith in the Government in "this terrible time of stress". The handbill concludes with of list of her pamphlets (1933-36). Note: her political views verge on the fascist but her contributions were substantial, including pouring money into British aviation). She "donated #100,000 to enable a British team to compete for the Schneider aviation trophy (1931) and gave large gifts to the Navy League. In order to counteract the National Government's proposed scuttle from India she funded the Houston-Mount Everest aeronautical expedition of 1933" (DNB). The DNB article describes her as an "adventuress", and glances at her many activities and adventures which included being a suffragette.
