Flyer: Your Wives, Daughters, Sisters and Mothers Belong In Their Union Auxiliary!
UNIONIZING WOMEN
[Labor] [Flyer]: Your Wives, Daughters, Sisters and Mothers Belong In Their Union Auxiliary! Let’s not forget the song the “Almanac Singers” introduced to San Francisco Unions... San Francisco: The San Francisco I.L.W.U. Ladies’ Auxiliary, [circa 1937].
Handbill; 5.5” x 8.25”; perforated application attached.
The International Longshore and Warehouse Union, mostly centered on the west coast of the United States, was established in 1937 following a bloody dockworker’s strike in 1934. This seems to date from the early days of the Union.
Scarce for form as well as content, this flyer urging the inclusion of women in a labor union is truly ephemeral: produced with a perforated application designed to be removed, it is unrecorded with or without the application.
