Madonna [Louise Ciccone]. Eight manuscript notebooks. 1980s-90s.
A series of spiral bound notebooks shared by Madonna and her personal assistant, Melissa Crow, detailing the professional and personal expectations and responsibilities of the rock star and feminist icon, day-in and day-out. All the notebooks include references to movies, flights, cars, and appointments, as well as to-do lists; most include mentions of Bob Mackie, Bill Bottress, and Pioneer. Representative topics and highlights include,
1. “Who’s That Girl?,” Sean Penn (moving in), Steve Bray; 1986-87. (red)
2. “Vogue,” “Justify…,” Saturday Night Live; to-do lists, psychiatrist visits, shopping, clothes, movies to see. “Bert” is mentioned frequently. 1989-90. (blue three subject)

Material related to Madonna is extremely scarce and very rarely comes on the market. Several of her Jean Paul Gautier stage outfits have been sold over the years, along with clothing painted by Keith Haring. Letters and lyric manuscripts are scarce.
