Single leaf folded; illustration of a black angel playing a trumpet on the front panel, with a secondary illustration of a black choir engaged in song inside the card; brown paper printed in black, green and red. In a black wooden frame with off-white matting.
This rare Christmas card was printed from a woodblock carving with Hurston’s name etched into the bottom of the illustration; the artist is unidentified except for an unobtrusive “K” on the far left-side of the front illustration. There has been some speculation that illustration was designed by Rockwell Kent. Both illustrations express the humor and benevolence of the sender. We cannot locate another copy.
