West writes to Dobell to clarify some editorial logistics, recounting in two full paragraphs the course of triangulated conversations among herself, her agent A.D. Peters, and Dobell. She concludes,
I therefore return you the typescript, with some emendations which I think brighten its factual aspect. I apologise to you for any inconvenience you have suffered, and I am sorry that my first contribution to a magazine I have enjoyed so much lately should be shadowed by any misunderstanding.
