First edition; one of 1,000 copies. The book includes three sections, entitled “A Budding Gourmet,”
“McTowers Maid,” and “Tijuana Maid,” that all address the social and political dimensions of food, food
preparation, and food service. Rosler was not content to work from a theoretical point of view – this is
performance art with a side of muck-raking, documentary journalism. The project began as a mail art work,
with serialized stories sent out on postcards, all based on Rosler’s own immersive experiences.
