(#46587111-b)
Two volumes inscribed to Eleanor by a close friend and colleague; she appears as a subject in both volumes. Newspaper publisher and editor Josephus Daniels was Woodrow Wilson’s Secretary of the Navy during World War I, with FDR as his Assistant Secretary. He was an active support of FDR’s 1932 bid for the Presidency, and was rewarded with the challenging Ambassadorship to Mexico (1933-41). Daniels and his son were passengers on FDR’s funeral train in 1945, returning to the Capitol with Truman and Eleanor.
